Salcia is a municipality in Prahova County in the region Wallachia in Romania .
Geographical location
Salcia (in German willow ) is located in the southern foothills of the Bucegi Mountains ( Munții Bucegi ) in the historical region of Great Wallachia in the east of the Prahova district. Located on the stream of the same name - a right tributary of the Cricovul Sărat - and the county road ( drum județean ) DJ 234, the place is about 35 kilometers north of the small town Urlați ; the district capital Ploiesti is located about 58 kilometers (35 km as the crow flies) southwest of Salcia.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1577.
Salcia has large salt deposits that have not yet been used. These would be suitable as rheumatism treatment centers, as a small river flows nearby from which two water basins were created for the villagers as early as 2005.
