Salomon Kalischer

Salomon Kalischer (born October 8, 1844 in Thorn ; died September 22, 1924 in Marienbad ) was a German physicist .

Life

He was born in Thorn (in West Prussia born), studied at the Jewish Theological Seminary in Breslau , the University of Breslau and Berlin , where he in 1868 with his dissertation De Aristotelis Rhetoricis et Ethicis Nicomachæis et in quo et Cur Inter Se quum Congruant growth Differant the Doctorate and a prize from the Faculty of Philosophy.

After a year as a tutor in Amsterdam , he returned to Berlin to study physics and chemistry . In 1876 he became a private lecturer at the Berlin Building Academy , which was transferred to the Royal Technical University of Charlottenburg in 1879 . Here he received his teaching qualification in 1894 and a professorship in physics in 1896.

From 1905 to 1920 Salomon was a member of the representative assembly of the Berlin Jewish community. In 1916 he took over the chairmanship of the German-Israelite Community Association . He died in Marienbad .
