Salomon Stricker

Salomon Stricker (born January 1, 1834 in Waag-Neustadtl / Hungary , † April 2, 1898 in Vienna ) was a Hungarian - Austrian experimental pathologist and histologist .

Life

Stricker studied medicine at the University of Vienna and later became an assistant at Ernst Wilhelm von Brücke's Institute of Physiology , where he received his doctorate in 1858. In 1862 he qualified as a professor in embryology . In 1866 he was appointed adjunct for experimental research at the II. Medical Clinic under Johann von Oppolzer . In 1868 he became associate professor and head of the Institute for General and Experimental Pathology in Vienna, which emerged from a laboratory headed by Stricker from 1863.

Stricker became full professor for general and experimental pathology at the University of Vienna in 1872 on the suggestion of Carl von Rokitansky . His most important students included Carl Heitzmann , Max Kassowitz , Gustav Gärtner , Julius Wagner von Jauregg , Ernst Freund , Leopold Oser and Carl Koller .
