Saltara (in the local dialect: Saltéra ) is a fraction of the Italian municipality ( comune ) Colli al Metauro and was an independent municipality until 2016.

history
The first documentary mention dates to a bull by Pope John VIII (Pope from 872 to 882). Saltara is mentioned again later in 1139, although the location on the old Via Flaminia suggests an earlier settlement.
The municipality of Saltara was merged with Montemaggiore al Metauro and Serrungarina on January 1, 2017 to form the new municipality of Colli al Metauro, it consisted of the Borgaccio and Calcinelli fractions . The municipality of Saltara had 6925 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2015) on an area of 9.97 km² and was part of the Comunità montana del Metauro . The neighboring communities of Saltara were Cartoceto , Montemaggiore al Metauro and Serrungarina.
The patron saint of the place is Sebastian .
traffic
The station on the former line from Fano to Urbino no longer exists since the line was closed in 1987. The Strada statale 73 to di Bocca Trabaria leads from Fano to San Giustino in Umbria .
