San Cosme y Damián is a district in the Itapúa department of Paraguay . It extends over an area of 200 square kilometers and has about 6,780 inhabitants. The district is surrounded by the neighboring districts of Coronel Bogado and General Delgado , in the west it borders on the Departamento Misiones and in the south, separated by the Río Paraná , on Argentina .
In 1632 the Jesuit priest Adriano Formoso founded the Jesuit Reduction San Cosme y Damián in this place.
