Bella Vista is a district in the Itapúa department of Paraguay . It was founded on October 12, 1918 by the German immigrants Erdmann Fischer and Josef Bohn as a colony on the banks of the Río Paraná . Since September 4, 1959 , Bella Vista has the status of a district in the Itapúa department of Paraguay.
Bella Vista extends over an area of 285 km² and has about 8,000 inhabitants. It is surrounded by the neighboring districts Pirapó and Obligado , in the south it borders on the Río Paraná and thus on Argentina .
The district is best known for the cultivation of the mate bush , for which a memorial was placed in front of the town hall .
