Fram , a district in the Itapúa department of Paraguay , is located about 46 km from Encarnación and about 22 km from Carmen del Paraná at an altitude of 195  m . It is surrounded by the neighboring districts of Encarnación, Carmen del Paraná , General Artigas , San Pedro del Paraná and La Paz .

Fram was founded on March 20, 1927 by the Norwegian Peter Christophersen . He bought 68,000 hectares of land from the Paraguayan state to clear it. The old name of this place was Apereá . On August 28, 1956, the colony was raised to a district.

The population of the Fram colony consisted predominantly of Russians, Poles and Czechs in the early 1960s. Today it is mainly made up of Slavs , Russians , Germans , Japanese and Ukrainians , most of whom work in agriculture.
