Yatytay , a district in the Itapúa department of Paraguay . It was founded on August 10, 1987 .

The district of Yatytay extends over an area of ​​160 km² and has around 2,500 inhabitants, it is surrounded by the neighboring districts of San Rafael del Paraná , Natalio and Tomás Romero Pereira , in the south it borders the Río Paraná and thus Argentina .

The first colonists settled in what is now Yatytay in 1972 . The district's name Yatytay is derived from Guaraní and means something like water snail .
