San Joaquín is a town in the Santa Cruz Department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

San Joaquín is a village in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San Javier in the province of Ñuflo de Chávez . The municipality is located at an altitude of 433  m east of the city of San Javier off the road to the city of Concepción .

San Joaquín is located in the Bolivian lowlands in the Chiquitanía region , a largely sparsely populated landscape between Santa Cruz and the Brazilian border.

The region's climate is a semi-humid climate of the warm subtropics . The monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly over the course of the year between 20 ° C in the winter months of June and July with strong cold southerly winds, and around 25 ° C from October to February (see climate diagram San Javier).

The annual average precipitation is around 1000 mm, which falls mainly in the wet season from November to March, while the arid months from June to September show monthly values ​​between 25 and 50 mm.

San Joaquín is located at a distance of 187 kilometers by road northeast of Santa Cruz , the capital of the department.

From Santa Cruz, the asphalted highway Ruta 4 leads 57 kilometers northwards via Warnes to Montero . Here it meets Ruta 10 , which in an easterly direction via San Ramón reaches San Javier after a further 114 kilometers . Eleven kilometers east of San Javier, a dirt road branches off in a southerly direction from Ruta 10 and reaches San Joaquín after another two kilometers.

From San Javier, Ruta 10 leads past San Joaquín in an easterly direction to Concepción , Santa Rosa de Roca and San Ignacio de Velasco and along the Brazilian border via San Vicente de la Frontera to San Matías .
