Sankt Joost (Wangerland)
St. Joost is a village in the municipality of Wangerland in the district of Friesland in the north of Lower Saxony .
geography
The North Sea coast is about six kilometers to the north and three kilometers to the east. The district of St. Joostergroden, created through land reclamation , lies between the village and the eastern coast of the Inner Jade . St. Joost is 14 kilometers north of Wilhelmshaven on Landstrasse 810, which leads from Wilhelmshaven via Hooksiel to Horumersiel and Schillig . The Hohenstief runs south of the village .

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Jodocus is a small late Gothic brick building that dates from the 15th century and the apse was added later. The church was mentioned in 1497 as a private chapel of the Junkers zu Hodens and Maisidden and in 1542 it was elevated to a parish church . The nave has large ogival windows, while the windows of the choir have segmental arches .
In 1909, which was parish St. Joost together with Wüppels connected to a church community. Together with Pakens - Hooksiel it forms a community parish.
