Sanlı Sarıalioğlu (born January 1, 1945 in Aksaray ) is a former Turkish football player , coach and current commentator. Through his many years of exclusive activity for Beşiktaş Istanbul , he is very strongly associated with this club. On fan and club pages he is seen as one of the most important players in club history. With his 66 goals in 315 first division appearances for Beşiktaş, he is one of the players who have both the most goals and the most Süper Lig appearances in the club's history. In addition, he was a team captain at Beşiktaş for a long time.

Player career

Sarıalioğlu was born in the Turkish provincial town of Aksaray in 1945 . Since his father Alattin Sarıalioğlu was the governor of various Turkish provinces , the family had to keep changing their place of residence. In 1959 the family settled in Istanbul and so Sarıalioğlu began playing football in 1959 in the youth of Beşiktaş Istanbul . In 1963 he was noticed positively by then head coach Ljubiša Spajić and, in addition to his work in the youth teams, was also involved in team training for the professionals. On June 2, 1963 he played during the Süper Lig match against Beykozspor from the start, making his professional debut.

In the next season 1963/64 the Austrian Ernst Melchior took over the coaching office and relied on the young Sarıalioğlu from the start. He scored nine goals in 25 top division games and was the second most successful shooter of his club behind Güven Önüt with 19 goals. The season missed his team with one point behind Fenerbahçe Istanbul the Turkish championship and became runner-up. The following season was again behind Fenerbahçe runner-up. The 1965/66 season ended Sarıalioğlu with his club as first in the table and thus reached his first Turkish championship . The following season he successfully defended his title and also won the Turkish Supercup .

After these two championship titles as a result, Sarıalioğlu and his club remained without a title for a long time and lost out to their city rivals Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray . At the end of the 1973/74 season, after seven untitled seasons, which won the Turkish Supercup and the Prime Minister's Cup again. Although they were two TSYD cup winners during this time , this cup was not given any great prestige.

The 1974/75 season ended the Süper Lig again disappointingly in fifth place in the table, but was able to win the Turkish Football Cup for the first time in the club's history . After this success Sarıalioğlu said goodbye to a farewell game played on August 1, 1975 against Fenerbahçe from the football stage.

National team

Sarıalioğlu played the first time for the Turkish national teams for the Turkish U-18 national team on November 6, 1963 in a friendly match against the Israeli U-18 national team.

A year after this U-18 international match, he was nominated in November 1964 for a test match against the Tunisian national team in the squad of the Turkish national team and made his international debut on this occasion. About six weeks later he made his second game against the Bulgarian selection . For the next three years he played almost exclusively for the Turkish U-21 national team . With this team he took part in the Balkan Cup in 1968, but could not achieve a placement in the top three.

From 1967 he played again for the Turkish national team and took part with them in the ECO Cup and was able to win this tournament with his team. During this tournament he also scored his first international goal in an encounter against the Pakistani national team . Two years later he took part in this tournament again with the national team and managed to defend the title with it.

In addition, from then on he was one of the regularly used players for about five years. He took part with the national team in the qualification of the European Football Championship 1968 , qualification of the Football World Championship 1970 , qualification of the European Football Championship 1972 , but could not qualify with his team for any of the teams.

He made his last international match on November 26, 1971 during a preparatory game against the Swiss national team .

Coaching career

In 1985 he briefed the then second division club Üsküdar Anadolu SK .
