Sarah Straton (born October 6, 1970 in Minneapolis , United States ) is an Australian beach volleyball player .

Career

Straton played her first international tournaments in 1995/96 with Christine Eleanor Wilson . The duo made it into the top ten in six open tournaments in a row. In 1996 Straton played in the World Series and the Grand Slam in Carolina with Liane Fenwick . The best results were a third place in Osaka and a fifth place in Busan . 1997 Straton came back with Wilson. At the Open tournaments in Marseille and Salvador da Bahia , the two Australians finished ninth each. They also took part in the first official World Cup in 1997 in Los Angeles ; there they took 17th place.

In 1998 Straton formed a new duo with Annette Huygens Tholen . In their first year together, Straton / Huygens finished seventh in Espinho and ninth at the Open tournaments in Marseille and Dalian . In 1999 they took part in the World Cup in Marseille and came in 13th. In 2000 they did not get a top ten placement. Even so, they took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney . After the initial defeat against the US duo Davis / Jordan , they also had to admit defeat to the German team Friedrichsen / Müsch and finished the tournament in 19th place.

In the following years, Straton, who also has US citizenship, concentrated its activities on the AVP tour. In the American series, she competed with various partners from 2001 to 2010, including a. with Angela Akers and with Brooke Hanson . In 2002 and early 2005, she was on pause due to pregnancy . In 2003 she also played a Grand Slam in Los Angeles with Angie Akers .

In 2014 Straton became an assistant trainer at the University of California, Los Angeles .
