Saray is a district town and a district in the north of the Turkish province of Tekirdağ in Eastern Thrace . Saray has 22,315 and the district 46,351 inhabitants (2010). There are 19 villages in the district .
The district borders with a small part in the north on the Black Sea . In the west and east it borders on the provinces of Kırklareli and Istanbul .
The name Saray means castle in German and refers to the residence of the Tatar rulers of the Crimean Khanate . After the Russian conquest of Crimea, they found asylum in the Ottoman Empire and were settled in Thrace.
