Sardinian megaron temples
Sardinian megaron temples (often without a real porch) are religious buildings that originate from the final phase of the nuragic culture in Sardinia . They are therefore far less common than well sanctuaries and springs.
description
In the provinces of Sassari and mainly Nuoro , one encounters the 20 previously discovered, mostly rectangular structures, which are only partially divided into rooms inside, either isolated, near well sanctuaries or within nuragic settlements . This indicates an isolated development on the otherwise architecturally largely uniform island. Characteristic of the construction is an extension of the side walls on the front (more rarely on the back Astylos ).
The only case is the sanctuary of Su Romanzesu near Bitti in the province of Nuoro , where, in addition to a special holy spring, there are three megaron temples and a kind of small amphitheater. In Serra Orrios there is a small and a large Megaron temple.
