The cadastral community Sarning is a place in the municipality Waidhofen an der Thaya-Land in the northern Waldviertel in Lower Austria . Deputy Mayor Johann Kasses ( ÖVP ) is the mayor .

term

The name Sarning is derived from the Slavic sârnica, "Binsenbach".

history

Sawerlings was first mentioned in 1230. Sernik, Serbling and Särning have been handed down as later spellings. In 1499 Serbling belonged to the Waidhofen rule, in 1575 Särning came to the Waidhofen parish. In 1784 Sarning came to the Buchbach parish.
