history
The first written evidence for Puechbach comes from the years 1220 to 1240. The later spellings Puchbach, Buechbach, Buechbeckh and Purchbach have been handed down.
In 1784 a one-class elementary school was established and the Buchbach parish was founded, which should include the towns of Buchbach, Sarning, Griesbach, Edelprinz and Wiederfeld. The school was enlarged with a second floor in 1892. In 1830 a new cemetery was laid out just outside the village. The old cemetery was abandoned because the ground there was too wet. In 1874, a conflagration almost completely destroyed Buchbach. Only the church, the school building, the rectory and house number 15 were spared. In 1894 its own fire brigade was founded, which built a syringe house in 1898. Today the fire brigade and its equipment are housed in the village center, which is no longer used as a school.
In 1930, electrification began in Buchbach, which gradually progressed so that street lighting could also be put into operation in 1953. It is also worth mentioning that foot and mouth disease broke out in the village in 1938 and all farms were affected.
On November 25, 1945, the first free elections took place again, in which of 238 valid votes, 233 for the ÖVP, 5 for the SPÖ and 0 for the KPÖ.

Buchbach volunteer fire department
The Buchbach volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1895 through the initiative of its first captain Michael Berger. A hand pump mounted on a horse-drawn cart was used as a fire engine at that time. The fire station was built in 1895 . Under Captain Johann Kainz, the first motorized sprayer was bought in 1935. From 1948 to 1960 Konrad Stangl headed the fire brigade. In 1960 Johann Pöschl took over the management. During his 21 years as a commander, he was able to purchase a motorized sprayer with a portable pump vehicle and a siren. In 1980 the fire brigade's equipment was expanded to include a VW LT 35 small fire engine. Josef Stangl was appointed commander in 1980. Under his leadership, the fire brigade acquired a vehicle radio and three breathing apparatus.
In 2007 Werner Hofstetter was elected commander and Roman Mühlberger as deputy commander. The administrator of FF Buchbach is Johann Kainz, his deputy is Josef Litschauer. In January 2009 the Buchbach volunteer fire brigade had 36 members, 30 active members and 6 members in reserve.
The Buchbach volunteer fire brigade is deployed in 3 cadastral communities: Buchbach, Sarning and Grießbach.
