Saue (German Sauß ) is a city in northern Estonia 18 km southwest of Tallinn . It is part of the rural community of Saue . From 1994 to 2017 Saue was an independent municipality. Other cities in the area are Keila (7 km), Saku (7 km) and Laagri (7 km).

130 hectares of the rather small urban area are privately owned, 35 hectares are taken up by municipal buildings and facilities. In addition, Saue has an industrial area of ​​25 hectares, 112 hectares of forests and parks and 15 hectares of arable land.

history

In 1920 the forerunner of today's city was founded. In 1960 the village was incorporated into Tallinn, raised to the status of a city in 1993 and then became independent in 1994. In 1973 the original name "Saue aedlinn" was changed to "Saue alevik". Today it is officially "Saue linn" (City of Saue).
