The Savanna Township is one of twelve townships in Carroll County in the northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .

The Savanna Township is located in northwest Illinois on the Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa . The Wisconsin border is 70 km north.
The Savanna Township is located at 42 ° 04'08 "north latitude and 90 ° 07'39" west longitude and extends over 54.19 km², spread over 34.59 km² of land and 19.4 km² of water.
The Savanna Township borders within Carroll County in the north on the Washington Township , in the northeast on the Woodland Township , in the east on the Mount Carroll Township and in the south on the York Township . To the west, the Mississippi forms the border with Jackson and Clinton Counties in Iowa.
In the center of the township, not far from the banks of the Mississippi, is the Ayers Sand Prairie State National Preserve , a small protected and recreational area.

US Highway 52, coming over the Savanna-Sabula Bridge from Iowa, runs through the Savanna Township in a west-east direction . Parallel to the Mississippi leads the Illinois section of the Great River Road forming Illinois Route 84 . A number of partly unpaved roads run from the river in an easterly direction.
A number of lines run by various railway companies run through the Savanna Township.
The nearest airport is the Tri-Township Airport, around 15 km south of the city of Savanna .
