The Washington Township is one of twelve townships in Carroll County in the northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .

Washington Township is located in northwest Illinois on the Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa . The Wisconsin border is approximately 55 km north.
The Washington Township is located at 42 ° 09'50 "north latitude and 90 ° 10'11" west longitude and extends over 102.92 km², spread over 91.67 km² of land and 11.25 km² of water.
The Washington Township borders within Carroll County in the east on the Woodland Township , in the southeast on the Mount Carroll Township and in the south on the Savanna Township . Washington Township borders Jo Daviess County to the north ; on the opposite bank of the Mississippi is Jackson County , Iowa.
In the center of the township lies the Mississippi Palisades State Park on the riverside . The extreme northwest of the township is occupied by the Savanna Army Depot , a former military training area, but most of it is in neighboring Jo Daviess County.

By Washington Township runs parallel to the Mississippi the Illinois portion of the Great River Road forming Illinois State Route 84 . A number of partly unpaved roads run from the river in an easterly direction.
