Location of Schöna in Saxony

Schöna is a district of the Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna municipality in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district .

geography

Schöna is located southeast of the Saxon state capital Dresden in the south of Saxon Switzerland , but in the center of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains . It is located in the east of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district in the Saxon Switzerland landscape protection area . The Waldhufendorf is located in the east of the Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna community. The location of Schöna is located in the valley basin of the Schönaer Dorfbach, which flows northwest of the village into the Mühlgrundbach running in the Hirschgrund . The Kaiserkrone rises on the eastern edge of the village of Schöna , a little further south the striking Zirkelstein , the smallest table mountain in Saxon Switzerland.

Most of the corridor lies on the Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna flatness . The neighboring town of Reinhardtsdorf borders immediately to the northwest at Hirschgrund. The Schönaer Waldhufenflur, which is largely used for agriculture, covers 494 hectares. Edge areas of the district and the two mountains mentioned are wooded. In the east of the corridor, between the confluences of Gelobtbach and Mühlgrundbach , Schöna has a share of the Elbe , which flows north in a narrow valley and breaks through the highest part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. On the slopes there are abandoned quarries where Reinhardtsdorfer sandstone was once extracted.

In the middle of the river, the Bad Schandau district of Schmilka borders in the northeast , and Hřensko (German: Herrnskretschen) in the east . The eastern border of the Schöna district, identical to the eastern border of the municipality, thus runs along the federal border with the Czech Republic . The next place to the south is Dolní Žleb (Niedergrund), a district of Děčín (Tetschen), four kilometers away as the crow flies . At the Gelobtbachmühle it borders on a short section of the corridors. Kleingießhübel , the third district of Reinhardtsdorf-Schöna, is four kilometers west of Schöna as the crow flies, but is separated from it by Reinhardtsdorf corridors.

The most important street on Schönaer Flur is the district road 8744, which under the name Hauptstraße opens up the village centers of Reinhardtsdorf and Schöna. Various other streets branch off from it in Schöna. The Hirschgrund street and Bahnhofstraße, which leads to Schöna train station on the Děčín – Dresden-Neustadt railway line in the Elbe Valley, have a connection function with remote districts and groups of houses . In addition, Schöna is connected to the regional bus network of Saxon Switzerland and Eastern Ore Mountains (RVSOE) .
