Anna Shimon-Regan

Anna Schimon-Regan , b. Regan (born September 18, 1841 in Aich near Karlsbad , Bohemia , † April 18, 1902 in Munich ) was a German singer ( soprano / mezzo-soprano ) and singing teacher of Bohemian origin.

Life

Anna Schimon-Regan received her vocal training from Maschinka Schneider and Caroline Unger-Sabatier . She accompanied Caroline Unger-Sabatier to Florence , where she stayed until 1864. She made her debut as a singer in Siena and performed in other cities in Italy. From 1864 to 1867 she worked as a soubrette at the Hoftheater Hannover . She then worked as a concert singer, primarily with songs by Franz Schubert .

In August 1867 she accepted an engagement as a chamber singer at the court of Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna of Russia in Saint Petersburg . There she sang an aria from Figaro's wedding and evening scene , a romance for mezzo-soprano and orchestra by Berlioz, in the fourth concert of the Russian concert company under the direction of Hector Berlioz on November 28, 1867 . She appeared in two other Berlioz concerts in St. Petersburg. In 1871 she sang at a court concert at Windsor Castle on the occasion of the wedding of the English Princess Louise to John Campbell, 9th Duke of Argyll .

In 1872 she married the pianist, composer and singing teacher Adolf Schimon in Florence , who taught in Leipzig from 1874 . In Leipzig she performed with the Gewandhaus Orchestra . She taught at the Leipzig Conservatory from 1886 - her husband died in 1887 - until 1891. In 1892 she went to Munich and taught at the Academy of Music until 1900 .

The tenor Ernst Kraus (1863–1941) was one of her students .
