The Schippbach , referred to as Schippach on the waterway map , is a 3.1 km long, left and northwestern tributary of the Kirbach in the urban areas of Bönnigheim and Sachsenheim in the Baden-Württemberg district of Ludwigsburg , on the right side briefly to the municipality of Cleebronn in the Heilbronn district borders.

The Schippbach is a stream of the Stromberg . It rises near the main ridge of the mountain landscape about 650 m north-northeast of the Großer Saukopf and about 300 north of the Pfeiferhütte at an altitude of 399  m above sea level. NHN . Initially flowing in a westerly direction, the brook turns to south-westerly after 500 m of flow. After about a third of its length it leaves the closed forest, but the edge of the forest follows it for a long time. Without having flowed through a village, the Schippbach flows after 3.1 km of running at the former Schippenmühle about 600 m southeast of Spielberg at 240  m above sea level. NHN on the left in the Kirbach . With a height difference of 159 m, the mean bed slope is 51.3 ‰.

Catchment area

The Schippach has a catchment area of ​​3.732 km², which it drains to the North Sea via Kirbach, Metter , Enz , Neckar and Rhine . Neighboring catchment areas are in the north beyond the Stromberg main ridge that of the Herrenwiesenbach zur Zaber , in the northeast of it that of the Geigersbach , which drains over the Baumbach to the Necḱar . On this side of the main ridge, the lower Enz tributary Steinbach rises in the east and the Kirbach tributary Meisenklinge in the west .

Protected areas

The catchment area is entirely in the Stromberg-Heuchelberg nature park . The stream runs in the nature reserve foothills of the Stromberg around Bönnigheim, Erligheim, Freudental, Löchgau and Kleinsachsenheim, which also includes most of its catchment area. After emerging from the forest, in the still narrow corridor tube by the stream, there is the natural monument headwaters in the Schippachtal and to the right of it on the lower slope the natural monument Magerwiesen und Hecken in the Gewann Schelterbronnen .
