Reviews

The editors of the online magazine laut.de rated the album with three out of five possible stars. Yannik Gölz described sleeping pills, red wine V as "slapstick from the artisanal class":

“And once again you have to compliment [Alligatoah]:“ StRw V ”doesn't do anything wrong. Again he fabricates quoteables in series, handles crazy flow and vocal concepts and even this time comes a touch more ambitious and detailed than before in production. [...] Something to complain about on this record is accordingly to a certain extent complaining at a high level and also certainly a subjective hair-splitting act. But to a certain extent, “Red Wine V Sleeping Pills” feels downright too perfect. It is exactly what you expect and carried out so flawlessly and in a technically convincing manner that it appears sterile and aloof. "

Plattentests.de awarded six out of ten points. Felix Heinecker stated that Alligatoah was "[d] er inefficient nerd":

“He raps in ten thousand different voices, sometimes in double time, he sings with pathos, is not stingy with neologisms and puns, the music meanwhile cannot choose between hip-hop, nu metal, jazz, pop, hard rock, polka and Chechen folklore. In terms of effort alone, that should be a 10/10. However, that did not exist and does not exist for him. [...] While the verses celebrate Alligatoah rap skills, his vocal organ always rasps an extra layer of cheese over the hook. This contrast can be found in almost every song and has been what decides whether his music is sympathetic or rejected for years. “Sleeping pills, red wine V” doesn't do anything different in this regard. Every song picks up the leg like a whimpering child, screaming for attention. That can be entertaining and tiring and depends heavily on whether or not his approach to the selected topic is right. "

success

In addition to the single Alli-Alligatoah , the tracks A Problem with Alcohol (92nd place, 1 week ) and Breaking Legs ( 93rd place, 1 week ) made it to the German single charts on September 21, 2018 due to the high number of downloads. The album itself reached number one (17 weeks) in Germany on September 21, 2018 , number 13 (2 weeks) in the Swiss and number two (5 weeks) in the Austrian charts on September 28, 2018 . Sleeping Pills, Rotwein V is thus Alligatoah's second number one solo album in Germany after Triebwerke in 2013.
