The grinding mill (also Wiesentheider Straße 22 ) is a wasteland in the district of Geiselwind in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .

Geographical location

The grinding mill is located in the northeast of the Geiselwinder municipality on the Reiche Ebrach . In the northwest, the area begins the market Ebrach in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg , the district of Kleinbirkach is the mill closest. The Geiselwind leisure land , which was created here in the 1960s, is located in the corridor of the Schleifmühle . The Schnackenmühle rises to the south-east , while the Federal Motorway 3 runs past the mill in the south . In the northwest is the Theuerleinsmühle .

history

The place name of the mill refers to the former use of the facility. So it was a "water-driven grinding mill". Only after 1834 was the eponymous function no longer mentioned. Presumably the grinding mill had had its day because of the more modern weapon technology . The mill was probably operated by the Prince of Schwarzenberg , who had their weapons renewed here.

The mill was mentioned for the first time in an interest book of the Lords of Schwarzenberg in 1506. At that time, among other things, a "field bey der awe Mühl" was named. The Hannemann family can be proven to have owned the mill as early as 1600. They owned the property until 1968. In 1817 the family had a license issued, after which the mill was now converted to produce grain.

The mill was later operated as a Lohmühle, but only stayed in operation for a very short time and was given up again before 1900. Now the Hannemanns established large animal husbandry in buildings with lightweight wood construction on the 16 hectares of forest and field corridors around the property . When Wilhelm Klein married in 1934, animal husbandry was given up. In the 1960s, the pensioner Franz Trosbach acquired the large land around the mill and planned to establish an international campsite here , from which the recreational area later developed.
