Hutzelmühle (also Neue Mühle ) is a wasteland in the area of the Geiselwinder district of Wasserberndorf in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .

Geographical location

The Hutzelmühle is relatively centrally located in the Geiselwinder municipality on the Reiche Ebrach . To the north are the settlements Neugrub and Burggrub . To the east, Wasserberndorf rises . It is connected to the mill by State Road 2260. Immediately to the south is the so-called Lohmühle , which used to be a district of Wasserberndorf. Federal Motorway 3 runs further south . In the west, the broken-down district of Hundsrangen and the Fütterseeer hammer mill can be found.

history

The origin of the name of the mill is controversial. However, the derivation of the prefix Hutzel- can be considered certain . In Middle High German there is the word hutzel, which means a dried pear. The mill must therefore already have existed during the Middle Ages. Maybe the name goes back to a legend. Possibly it was also a nickname for the residents or larger quantities of pears were actually sold here.

The mill was first mentioned in 1648. At that time, Niclaus Bernhard von Rothschütz, who was wealthy in the nearby Burggrub, sold his mill “ob Wasser Bebendorff” to the Carthusian monks from the Ilmbach monastery . The Carthusians soon sold the facility on. As early as 1654 Hans Sachs, the son of the Oberscheinfeld miller Michel Sachs, received the "Hutzelmühl". Around 1660 Hans Sachs was mentioned again.

In 1681 the mill belonged to the district court in Burghaslach . In 1699 it changed hands again. Hans Sachs (probably the younger) sold the property to Georg Lamprecht. At that time there was a cutting mill in the immediate vicinity of the Hutzelmühle, which Lamprecht also acquired and rebuilt. In 1705 Lamprecht's son Johann Georg received the mill. He was called in 1721 as a miller "on the new mill" and in 1723 as "HuzelMüller".

The 18th century was also marked by disputes with the nearby community of Hohnsberg . The Mühlbach and the rights of use to its water led to disputes that were finally fought before the Reich Chamber of Commerce in Wetzlar . At that time the mill consisted of several properties. In 1736 Georg Atz was found in an annex to the Hutzelmühle, and in 1748 Jacob Lendner lived "next to the Hutzel Mühl".

Towards the end of the century, around 1790, the rulership of the mill was described. Both the Ilmbach monastery and the Schwarzenberg rule had a single subject . The Lords of Schwarzenberg owned the so-called post office in the hallway of the mill. In 1833 Johann Georg Vogel was named as Hutzelmüller. A district of the former municipality of Wasserberndorf until the municipal area reform , Hutzelmühle and its main town became part of the larger municipality of Geiselwind in 1972.

Attractions

The former mill building

The former mill building has been preserved to this day. It is classified as an architectural monument by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments . The single-storey gable roof building was built in 1699 by the miller Georg Lamprecht. The mill is gable and was decorated with plaster structures. It also received a large half-timbered gable .

The former Wasserberndorfer Lohmühle is right next to the mill. Today the Hutzelmühle youth campground can also be found in the hallway of the mill. It is operated by the Kreisjugendring Kitzingen and has an area of approx. 10,000 m².
