history

The place was mentioned in 1267 as Schloydien. The Prussian name refers to "sklaids" and indicates a smooth, slippery, watery soil texture. The aristocratic family Dohna acquired the place in 1643 from the Prussian family Werner in order to round off their lands. At that time there was already a modest one-story mansion on the western outskirts. Today only the remains of the palace complex can be found there.

lock

The Castle Schlodien was until 1945 a manor of the von Dohna- Schlodien in Schlodien. It has been in ruins since the fire on July 17, 1986.
