history

The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1241 in connection with its owner at the time, the Kyburg liege Burchardus de Kevincon . The castle with an eventful history lost its feudal importance with the abolition of court rule after 1798 and became an upper-class country residence, also known for Hans Conrad Escher von der Linth , who was known for the construction of the Linth Canal . The castle is located near Frauenfeld, right next to Islikon .

Nowadays the castle is also known for the Schloss Kefikon private school , which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2006. The boarding school also has the largest natural pond in Switzerland, which is 100 meters long and 30 meters wide.
