Louisenberg

The Louis Schloss is located on the submarine in Mannenbach (municipality Salenstein ) in the canton of Thurgau , Switzerland .

History and description

In 1834/1835 the former French Brigadier General Marquis de Crenay built a manor house in place of the old Mannenbach chaplain building, which he named "Louisenberg" after the name of his wife's niece, Louise de Séréville.

The building is three-story and has a flat hipped roof . On the palace terrace is a symmetrical park with copies of old statues.

In 1873 Jean Bürgi-Betschaft from Arth bought the castle, and in 1878 it became the property of Cantonal Councilor Abraham Fehr-Häberlin from Mannenbach. In 1889 it belonged to Baroness Emilie von Breidenbach, from 1906 to Jean Kaestlin. During the October Revolution , Jean Kaestlin's son and his family had to flee to Switzerland and settled in the castle. From 1945 the castle belonged to Frau ten Brink-Merian, from 1960 to Henrik Kaestlin, who had the castle restored for decades.
