Castle of the Barons of Palm (Wernau)
The castle of the Freiherren von Palm is a castle from the early 18th century on the main road in Steinbach, a current district of Wernau in the Esslingen district in Baden-Württemberg .
history
Steinbach was once under the rule of the Lords of Liebenstein , who also had the palace built, which later became the property of the von Palm family. Even before the building, which still exists today, there was a moated castle.
The von Palm family came into possession of the plant in Steinbach when Franz Gottlieb von Palm (1691–1749) in Swabia owned the Ober- and Unterbalzheim , Bodelshofen and Steinbach estates : In June 1740 he bought the Bodelshofen estate and shortly afterwards acquired parts of the Manor Balzheim. The Steinbach estate was added four years later.
The castle of the von Palm family in Steinbach, which still exists today, was supplemented by a fruit box and a wine press. The yellow-washed main building has an almost square floor plan and a high mansard roof . The three lower floors are visually separated from each other by horizontal dividing elements. The building is surrounded by tall trees.
The castle is privately owned and is not open to the public.
