The Schmiedackerbach is a year-round flowing water of the 3rd order in the Untermässing district of the town of Greding in the Central Franconian district of Roth , Bavaria .

history

The Bavarian original cadastre shows the Schmiedackerbach in the 1810s under the name Heinerichs Graben . Its water power probably drove a mill in Untermässing, which today is only reminiscent of the street name Mühlgraben . The upper course was dammed with a wall up to two meters. In 2007 the barrier was removed and the creek there renatured.

course

The source area of ​​the stream is located in the Heinrichsgraben landscape protection area . It rises on the western Sulzplatte and flows into the Schwarzach-Thalach valley funnel . It has a length of almost two kilometers and flows in a steady westward course before it flows into the Schwarzach from the left in Untermässing . Today the brook passes under the town center of Untermässing , whereby it takes another nameless brook underground from the right.

Water quality

The entire stream is classified as water quality class II-III, critically polluted with organic, oxygen-consuming substances. Fish deaths due to a lack of oxygen are just as possible as a decline in the number of macrophytes and a tendency towards mass development of individual plant and animal species.
