The Schmindbach is a creek less than a kilometer long near and through the hamlet of Unterspeltach in the municipality of Frankenhardt in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the middle Speltach from the right and south .

geography

course

The Schmindbach flows about 300 meters south of the outskirts of Unterspeltach am Flurrrand under the Schmindhalde forest at about 430  m above sea level. NHN from a pipe. He initially runs northwest next to a Großseggenried and a wet meadow towards a short gallery made of black alder, which then briefly accompany him. After not much more than a hundred meters, it bends at the edge of a field, along which a small stream runs from the left, to the north-east course at its further edge. Where the field ends at the edge of the hamlet, large sedge grow again on the bank. After a bend in direction to the north, the Nach flows under trees along the outskirts to the north. Then it disappears in a pipe in which it flows through the place.

Beyond the L 2641 (Frankenhardt-) Stetten - ( Crailsheim -) Jagstheim it leaves the pipe again and runs in a ditch between local properties on the left and the Hofwiesen grassland on the right further north over the Speltachaue. Only a short distance from the northeast tip of the hamlet and about a hundred meters above the river bridge of the K 2640 from Fichtenhaus , it then flows out at about 413  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the middle Speltach, which has been straightened to the east .

The Schmindbach flows after its 0.8 km long course, including the twisted section, with an average bed gradient of approx. 23 ‰, approximately 17 meters below its origin at the edge of the forest. Apart from the short left on the upper course, it has no other inflow.

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Schmindbach has an area of 0.8 km², its greatest height on the southern edge on a forest height in the Gewann forest reaches 505.4  m above sea level. NHN . From there the forest stretches down over the Schmindhalde to the foot of the mountain a little south of Unterspeltach, where the stream begins its course and the open, partially populated northern half of the catchment area begins. There the meadows dominate over the fields. In the area belonging to the Honhardt district marking of the municipality of Frankenhardt , the part of the hamlet of Unterspeltach within is the only settlement area.

Near catchment areas are in the west that of the lower Stettbach , in the west that of the Hofbach , which a little before and after the Schmindbach also run from the right and north to the Speltach . On the southeast side lies behind the ridge of the 494.1  m above sea level. NHN high Schwabenberg near the Bechhof is the headwaters of the Brunnenbach , which runs eastwards to the Jagst Speltach receiving water . Beyond the most prominent southern watershed on the mountain ridge in the forest , the precipitation flows in the eastern part of the opposite slope over the creek through the Veldersklinge and subsequently the Steinbach to the Jagst, while in the central and western part it reaches the Stettbach mentioned above via the Ghaiwasenbach .

From a natural perspective, the entire area belongs to the sub-area Burgberg-Vorhöhen and Speltachbucht of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains .

This part of the Keuperbergland lies, geologically speaking, in the Middle Keuper , the highest layer of which is the silica sandstone ( Hassberge formation ) on the mountain height in the forest in the south. Below on the slope and on the ridge of the Schwabenberg are Untere Bunte Marl ( Steigerwald Formation ), underneath in turn the reed sandstone ( Stuttgart Formation ) sets in , which, however, is covered in the middle part of the Schwindhalde by slipped rock from the higher layers. The Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld formation ), which ends at the vin Auenlehmen-filled band on both sides of the Speltach, extends far into the local area of Unterspeltach .

From the north-northwest, three fault lines run into the catchment area. The next one moves Gipskeuper on the Hochscholle towards the river against reed sandstone on the mountain side, the two further away from the river, still outside the catchment area, the reed sandstone on the outer Hochschollen against a tectonic ditch with lower colored marls and silica sandstone on the mountain height in the forest , which shows the reversal of relief .
