geography

River course

The Schneidersbach, 2015

The left main line upper course Zweibrücklesgraben of the Schneidersbach arises in the Lorenzer Reichswald west of the Nuremberg town exclave Brunn in the community-free state forest Brunn from two source brooks, which on the north slope of the von Brunner Berg ( 438  m above sea level ) in the east to a knoll at the Roten Marter ( about 386  u m. NHN ) originate in the west pulling hill back. Between the Brunnersberg right and the three heights (up to 380  m above sea level. NHN ) left the stream first runs north-east, the right of the A 3 accompanied, and takes the same long Erlgraben on which rises up the slope of Mount Brunner. Further down, it joins next to the beginning of the branch-off lane of the A 3 to the Nürnberger Kreuz with the right side branch upper course Höllgraben , also coming from the right , here the Schneidersbach is created by name.

The Schneidersbach turns around the Drei Heights to the left in the Haimendorfer Forest on north and then west. Shortly before it changes from this area to the Laufamholzer Forest , another stream flows down from the Drei Heights opposite the still accompanying A 3 and the outskirts of Schwaig behind it, after whose mouth the Schneidersbach runs through two long ponds. Two left tributaries then reach it in the Laufamholzer Forest, after the lower it changes its direction to the northwest and leaves the last of the three community-free state forests, in which the largest part of its course lies , right under the Nuremberg – Schwandorf railway line . In the gap between Schwaig on the right and the Nuremberg district of Laufamholz on the left, it moves on its last kilometer close to the municipal border, predominantly in the Freiland district of the Nuremberg district, under the St 2241 (here: Laufamholzstrasse) running on the left in the Pegnitztal at its driveway to the A3 and then, after a short meadow bordered by a tree gallery, flows into the lower Pegnitz from the left opposite the Erlenstegen waterworks .

The Schneidersbach flows for the most part, and from its namesake entirely, in the large drinking water protection area east of Nuremberg.

Catchment area

It covers about 12.6 km² and is largely forested. The northern watershed separates the catchment area of the upstream Pegnitz, behind the eastern one its left tributary Röthenbach runs . The southern watershed runs over the Brunner Berg , which is 438  m above sea level. NHN highest elevation in the catchment area, beyond it the water also flows to the Röthenbach in the east, in contrast to the Fischbach in the west , which also competes over its right tributaries in the course of the following southwestern watershed. The downstream Pegnitz has no significant left tributaries between it and the Schneidersbach.
