The Fischbach is a small, year-round 3rd order flowing water in the Lorenzer Reichswald southeast of Nuremberg and can be counted among the land ditches in Nuremberg .

course

The Fischbach springs east of the Nuremberg district Fischbach in the unincorporated area Fischbach of the Nuremberg country in the forest and flows west through the Vogelherdhöhle pond, under the A 9 and into the village Fischbach one. There he passes the Pellerschloss , whose moat he used to feed. In the west of Fischbach it steps back into the forest and is dammed into an ice pond, from which ice used to be broken in winter to cool beer.

One kilometer further, the brook flows through the wooden pond, shortly behind it an alder forest extends .

The Fischbach then flows north past the Russenwiese , a forest meadow. At the stone weir on the Nuremberg city limits, the water can be directed to both the Dutzendteich and the Valznerweiher via a bulkhead . In the Dutzendteich the water of the Langwasser also flows into it . After the Dutzendteich the brook is led 300 meters to Gleißhammer . There it flows superficially for another 550 meters, past the Luitpoldhain and the Meistersingerhalle and along the Schultheissallee.

Originally the brook flowed directly through Zerzabelshof and Tullnau into the Pegnitz. In 1496 its course was changed: Since then it has flowed through the Dutzendteich, crossed under the southern part of the Nuremberg city wall , flowed past the White Tower and the Almosmühle and flowed into the Pegnitz at the Henkersteg . In 1813 it was thrown in the city center and, around 1860, when the Nuremberg main station was built outside the city wall, it was diverted to the western run. Around 1880 his water power drove a generator at the Almosmühle, which supplied the street lighting; later it was completely built over.

Today its above-ground run ends at the height of Hainstrasse. A small part of its water flows from there through an inconspicuous concrete pipe underground to the north to the tent pond . The main drain runs underground for about three kilometers to the northwest and becomes part of the Nuremberg sewer system, the pipes of which it flushes, which are up to man-high. After passing through the sewage treatment plant, its water has only flowed to the Pegnitz in Doos .

In the Middle Ages there were attempts to lead the nearby Röthenbach into the Fischbach, but they failed. Remnants of the ditch that was left behind are still visible today.

The Augraben and Renngraben flow into the Fischbach in front of the Eisweiher, and the Schwarzer Graben and Tiefer Graben brooks at the Russenwiese ; in the Dutzendteich the long water is added.

Water quality

On the water quality (as of 2006):

  • on the upper reaches to the ice pond: predominantly quality class II (moderately polluted)
  • from the Eisweiher to the Großer Dutzendteich: quality class II-III (critically loaded)
  • from the Großer Dutzendteich (Fischbach diversion canal) (quality class II-III)
