Valznerweiher

The Valznerweiher is a good four hectares large pond in the east of Nuremberg at the edge of the Lorenz Imperial Forest in the district Zerzabelshof .

description

Originally it was nothing more than a small pond in a chain of similar bodies of water. Today you can still see two bodies of water separated by a bridge. The western and actually nameless pond is colloquially called the "Kleine Valznerweiher". The pond is fed by the Fischbach , the Goldbach is fed by the Valznerweiher via its drain.

The pond was named after Herdegen Valzner , a banker from Prague. The spelling of the name changed in the course of time, around 1823 it was called "Vällzner Weyher", in 1869 "Falznerweiher". Valzner acquired the pond for the water supply to the Gleißhammer, his iron hammer at today's Zeltnerweiher . As Erbzinslehen the Valznerweiher came into the possession of the patrician family Nützel .

Towards the end of the 18th century there was a household in Valznerweiher (1 estate). The high court exercised the imperial city of Nuremberg , which was disputed by the Brandenburg-Ansbach Vogtamt Schönberg . The manorial rule was held by the Nuremberg owner von Fürer .

As part of the municipal edict, Valznerweiher was assigned to the Mögeldorf tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Mögeldorf , which was founded in the same year . Between 1818 and 1840 Valznerweiher was changed into the newly formed rural community Zerzabelshof . On November 1, 1923, Valznerweiher was incorporated into the city of Nuremberg .

Today the Forsthof borders the southeastern edge of the Valznerweiher , and the Zerzabelshofer forest on the northeastern edge. There used to be a bird hearth on the island in the Valznerweiher .

Southwest of the Valznerweiherstraße on the former site of Strength through Joy City built the 1. FC Nuremberg in 1966 his training ground and moved into this 1968. Since then, the Cluberer , not just the football, but also the departments boxing, handball, rolling and Ice sports, swimming, skiing and tennis, at home in the Valznerweiher sports park . The Valznerweiher has been a local recreation area and the inn on the island has been a popular excursion destination since the 19th century. In addition, "am Valznerweiher" became a synonym for the club in reporting between games.
