Schopflohe , formerly called Schopfloch , is a district of the municipality of Fremdingen in the Bavarian - Swabian district of Donau-Ries .

location

The village is about 2 km northeast of Fremdingen on a south-west slope in an open field. It is crossed by the DON 4 district road.

history

The place was probably created in Carolingian times, as the name ending "-lohe" ( mhd. For forest, grove ) indicates. The Schopflohe, first mentioned in 1299, is then owned by the Lords of Hohentrüdingen . Later up to seven landlords claimed the rule of the village, but none of them could prevail. Therefore, in the Middle Ages , Schopflohe was a free village with extensive autonomy.

During the Thirty Years' War , Schopflohe was sacked by imperial troops in 1632 and largely burned down in 1634 after the Battle of Nördlingen . In 1652 - the place had not yet been rebuilt - Protestant religious refugees came from the Salzburg area and repopulated the place.

On the occasion of the foundation of the German Empire in 1871, a peace oak was planted, which is still standing today.

The land consolidation was carried out from 1963 to 1969 .

Until the municipal area reform , Schopflohe was an independent municipality with the district Bosacker . On May 1, 1978, the community was dissolved and Schopflohe was incorporated into the Fremdingen community. Bosacker came to the municipality of Weiltingen .

Buildings

In addition to some other architectural monuments, the Catholic and Evangelical Lutheran parish churches are on the list of monuments .
