Schorbach is a district of Ottrau in the Schwalm-Eder district in Hesse . The hamlet of Steinmühle belongs to Schorbach .

The place is north-west of Ottrau in the foothills of the Knüllgebirge on the eponymous Schorbach and the small Wälzebach that flows into it from the west . State road 3161 runs through the village .

history

The place was first mentioned in documents in 1223. In 1592 the stone mill to the south was built. In 1776 there were 242 residents in 48 houses in the village. In 1834 the number of inhabitants had increased to 362.

On April 1, 1972, the community of Schorbach gave up its independence and the village became a part of the community of Ottrau. Since January 1, 1974, the Ottrau community has been part of the newly formed Schwalm-Eder district.
