Jared Scot Allen (* 3. April 1982 in Dallas , Texas ) is a former American American football poker players in the position of defensive ends and current curler . He played college football for Idaho State before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2004. Until 2015 he played for the Minnesota Vikings , Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers in the National Football League (NFL). In his twelve-year professional career, he participated in a Super Bowl , was elected five times in the Pro Bowl and collected 136 sacks .
Career
college
Allen has had a successful career in college football . During his time with the Bengals , as the Idaho State University football team is known, he got 250 tackles , 38.5 sacks, thirteen forced fumbles, seven captured fumbles and three touchdowns . In his senior year he received the Buck Buchanan Award , an award for the best defense player.
NFL
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs selected Allen in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft as 126 players. The Chiefs showed rather poor defensive performance at this time and so Allen was able to quickly take his place on the starting grid. He got nine sacks in his rookie season. He played 15 of a total of 16 games, ten of them on the grid. He signed a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007. In the same season he achieved a personal best with 15.5 sacks. He played 14 games, all from the start. For the first time in his career he also took part in the Pro Bowl .
Minnesota Vikings
In April 2008, the Minnesota Vikings signed Jared Allen in exchange for some draft rights. The signed six-year contract at that time represented the highest-value contract for a defensive player in the history of the NFL. In his first season with the Vikings he struggled with minor injuries, but still played all games and came to 14, 5 sacks and three forced fumbles. In the 2009 season he managed 4.5 sacks in one game against the Green Bay Packers . A week later he scored his first touchdown in the NFL after a captured fumble from 52 yards. At the Vikings he developed into a top performer and did not miss a single game in six seasons.
Chicago Bears
In March 2014, the Chicago Bears announced that Allen had signed a four-year contract (32.5 million; 15 million guaranteed).
Carolina Panthers
On September 28, 2015 Allen moved to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a pick in the sixth round in the NFL Draft 2016. A trade of the Panthers was necessary in this position because their best pass rusher, Charles Johnson , was against New Orleans on Matchday 3 Saints pulled a muscle and failed. With the Panthers he made it to Super Bowl 50 , where they were defeated by the Denver Broncos 10:24.
On February 18, 2016, Jared Allen announced his retirement on Twitter .

In March 2018, Allen founded an all-pro curling team together with former National Football League quarterback Marc Bulger , linebacker Keith Bulluck and offensive tackle Michael Roos , with which he will participate in the USA Curling Men's Challenge in Blaine , Minnesota , in January 2019 , will participate. His curling club is the Curl Mesabi Club in Eveleth , Minnesota.
