The chimney is around 450  m above sea level. NHN high elevation of the Taunus near Cleeberg in the central Hessian district of Gießen .

Geographical location

The Schorn is located in the Taunus Nature Park in the south-western municipality of Langgöns , about 1 km south of the Cleeberg district and 2.5 km northwest of the Espa district of Langgöns beyond the Gaulskopf ( 474  m ) . Through its southern slopes Old Forest ( 421.2  m ), he falls in neighboring Lahn-Dill lying Weiperfelden (part of Waldsolms ) from. The Jagdhaus farm is located a little southeast of the partly wooded elevation .

The Aulbachsgrundbach rises north of the Schorn and flows into the Kleebach in Cleeberg , the latter also being fed by the Reihegrundbach, which rises east of the elevation, a little above Cleeberg . The Hohlbach rises to the south-east and flows into the Solmsbach directly above Weiperfelden .

Mountain height

The chimney is about 450  m high. The often given height of 438 or 438.3  m refers to a measuring point located about 200 m east-northeast of the mountain peak on the edge of the forest ( ).

Natural allocation

The Schorn belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Taunus (No. 30) in the main unit Östlicher Hintertaunus (302) to the natural area Wetzlarer Hintertaunus (302.0), whereby the natural area Bodenroder Kuppen (302.2) adjoins on the southern flank of its foothills Altenwald near Weiperfelden .
