The Schrandelberg is 568.4  m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Franconian Alb low mountain range in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .

geography

location

The mountain is located southwest of Langenaltheim , south of Langenaltheimer Haardt and north of the forest area Oberholz . He is in the middle of the Altmühltal nature park in a conservation area and is partially as a bird sanctuary and FFH area protected. Some hiking and cycling trails lead past the mountain. In the east there is a landfill and a quarry used to mine the Solnhofen limestone .

Natural allocation

The Schrandelberg belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Alb (No. 08), in the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and in the subunit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Obere Altmühlalb (082.22).
