The tower was built as a watch tower . After it fell into disrepair, it was rebuilt in 1911 and made accessible as a lookout tower. In 1991 the tower made of natural stones was renovated. The owner is the Hessisch-Waldeckische Gebirgs- und Heimatverein (HWGHV; Zierenberg branch ).

Possibility of viewing

From the observation platform of the tower you can look over the Zierenberg, located in the Warm Valley, which is partly covered by trees when viewed from the tower, and over to the mountains beyond or southwest of this valley, the Großer Bärenberg , on which the Bärenberg tower stands, and the Burghasunger Berg (near the Burghasungen district ). To the south you can see Ehlen , a district of the Habichtswald community in the Warmetal , and the Hohen Habichtswald . Looking south-east you can see the Hohen Dörnberg .
