The Schreckenspitze , also Schreckspitze , is 2022  m above sea level. A. high peak in the Vorkarwendel in Tyrol .

Location and surroundings

The Schreckenspitze is the highest, albeit less dominant, elevation in a long, north-south, mountain pine-covered ridge that extends from Juifen (5 km north) to Hohen Gans ( 1950  m above sea level , 3 km south) . The immediate neighboring peaks in the north is Sunday tip ( 1926  m above sea level. A. ), also scale tip or Zunterspitze called ( 47 ° 31 '  N , 11 ° 39'  O ).

When the weather is good, the Schreckenspitze is part of the Munich Alpine panorama; when the weather is exceptionally good, it can even be seen from the Franconian Jura .

Paths to the summit

The easiest access leads from Achenkirch ( 916  m above sea level ) or from the Bächental valley north-west of the Schreckenspitze via the forester's lodge Aquila ( 919  m above sea level ) and the Tiefenbachalm to the Gröbner Hals ( 1654  m above sea level ). From there a marked path leads to the Sonntagsspitze, the further ascent to the Schreckenspitze leads further over the ridge without a path.

Another ascent from Achenkirch runs over the Moosenalm pathless through the eastern flank. Alternatively, the Schreckenspitze can be climbed from the south from Schleimssattel ( 1556  m above sea level ) over the ridge of Fanesjoch (also Fonsjoch ) without a path, long and arduous.
