description
The river has its source in the northern Urals east of the main ridge, near the border between the Komi Republic and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug . First it flows north along the border, before turning west after the confluence of the Torgowaya . He crosses the Ural line ( ⊙ ). He picks up the Telpos and shortly afterwards turns back north.
The Shchugor then flows west in a wide curve to the left . After the confluence of the Bolshoi Patok , it turns south, before turning west again shortly before the tributary of the Tokarel . A few kilometers further on, the Shchugor flows into the Pechora at Ust-Shchuger .
The Shchugor flows through almost its entire length through the very sparsely populated taiga of the Komi Republic. The river is frozen from late October / early November to an average of late May / early June. In June and July, the river floods due to the thawing snow .
The river is a spawning area for salmon .
The Shchugor flows through the Jugyd Wa National Park . The river is used for rafting .
