Peregrin Teuschl (born April 27, 1822 in Kaisersteinbruch , western Hungary , today Burgenland , † October 9, 1870 in Vienna ) was an Austro-Hungarian master stonemason and sculptor of historicism .

Life

Peregrin was born the son of the Kaisersteinbruch master mason Anton Teuschl († 1859) and Anna Mayer. His younger brother Carl was born in 1840, 18 years later. His maternal grandfather was the master weaver and local judge Petrus Mayer .

He learned the stonemason trade from his father, and as a trained master married Regina Gehmacher, widow after the master stonemason from Kaisersteinbruch, Eduard Gehmacher, who died three months after his marriage in 1845 at the age of 22. Through this marriage he took over (as a tenant ) a forest and overland gardens in addition to his property (house and quarry ). Son Franz was born in 1847.

Land register 1851

The manufactured Peregrin Teuschl appears on October 24, 1851 and is looking for an entry in the land register for himself and his wife Regina, née Zach.

Kaisersteinbrucher judge 1852-1859

The teacher Johann Wimmer wrote in his memorial book: “... the whole local administration got into a mess, even with the local judge Franz Pansipp in a billing process, which had the consequence that Pansipp was unexpectedly removed from the judge's office and Peregrin Teuschl was elected local judge. But even under this judge the financial questions could not be settled (or should not?) ”.

His wife Regina died of lung addiction in 1856 , and in 1857 he married Juliana, widow of the hunter Georg Ziegler.

Teuschl served as judge from 1852 to 1859, his co-masters in these years were Franz Abt, Caspar Niergl, Johann Amelin , Johann Krasny , Stephan Heischmann, Ferdinand Krukenfellner sen., Georg Koppitsch , Franz Nunkowitsch, Franz Pansipp, Anton Teuschl, Michael Tiefenbrunner, Franz Wanderl, Michael Weidbacher, Franz Winkler.

Vienna Ringstrasse

The quarry turned into a lake

The Peregrin Teuschl quarry was so deeply exploited that suddenly a rich source of water sprang up, which soon threatened to turn the quarry into a lake. The quarry tenant succeeded in knocking out the spring forever, but the water that was already standing could not run away, and they were tempted to turn it into a fish pond . The remaining quarry water, however, flowed through a stone wall crevice that opened up during further quarry work. The quarry has been exploited and is now deserted.

On October 9, 1870, Peregrin Teuschl, house owner and master stonemason, 48 years old, died of a severe blow from Kaisersteinbruch in Lower Austria at Rennweg 32.

Burial in Kaisersteinbruch

Peregrin Teuschl married, lives in Kaisersteinbruch No. 48, on October 9, 1870 in Vienna .. died very quickly.
