Schwanditz is a district of Göllnitz in the East Thuringian Altenburger Land . There is a former manor in the village, which has the longest arcade in the Altenburg region and which now houses a farm shop and guesthouse.

geography

The L 1361 (Schmölln-Meuselwitz) runs through Schwanditz and crosses the L 1362 (Altenburg-Gera) north of the town . The district town of Altenburg is 9 km to the east. Schmölln is 7 km south, Meuselwitz 12 km north and Gera 25 km west. The place is surrounded by fields and narrow strips of forest in the so-called Altenburg-Zeitzer Loesshügelland . Schwanditz gives its name to the Schwanditzbach, which drains over the German Bach into the Blue Flood . A southern tributary dams the village pond.

Adjacent places are clockwise north Breesen as a district of Starkenberg and Lutschütz , in the northeast Romschütz , the latter both as districts of Göhren . In the south is the town of Schmölln , in the southeast is Kratschütz , in the south Altkirchen and in the southwest Großtauschwitz . West of Schwanditz is Göllnitz.

history

Schwanditz was first mentioned in 1140 as Zventz ( Slavic for holy place). Zwentz is also the name of a local noble family. A chapel is also mentioned in the first mention of the village, and the remains of the wall of this church, which can be traced back to the 16th century, are located in the manor house of the manor. It is located north of the old core of the settlement, with a large plank room from 1810 in a half-timbered building.

Schwanditz belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies from the 16th century due to several divisions in the course of its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place came back to the duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. After the administrative reform in the duchy, Schwanditz belonged to the eastern district (until 1900) and to the Altenburg district office (from 1900). In 1900 80 people lived in the village. From 1918 Schwanditz belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 the village became part of the Altenburg district .

On July 1, 1950, Schwanditz was incorporated into Göllnitz. During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Schwanditz came as a district of the municipality of Göllnitz with the district of Schmölln to the district of Leipzig , which had belonged to Thuringia since 1990 as the district of Schmölln and which was added to the district of Altenburger Land during the Thuringian district reform in 1994 .

Manor

The original manor burned down on May 20, 1651. Another fire raged on June 1, 1760. What is particularly noteworthy on the manor is the cowshed building built in 1760 with its longest arcade in the Altenburger Land with 23 openings and porstube . The mansion was massively expanded from the old tenant house after 1820. A new tenant house was built in 1864 and demolished in 1999 above the old cellar, a new building with a farm shop and holiday apartments was built at this point. The barn burned down in 1900 and was rebuilt in 1903 in a modern half-timbered style with a flat roof. In 1940 Johannes Junghannß bought the manor. In 1953 he had to leave the farm because he did not want to join the LPG. Since 1952, the seat of the LPG Mehna -Göllnitz was in the manor . Since less than 100 hectares of land belonged to the estate, it was not expropriated and has been farmed by the Junghannß family again since 1990. The place Schwanditz extends south of it on the main road like a street settlement to the site of a former brick factory.
