history
The place was first mentioned on September 24, 1140. The south of the village forms the old Sorbian settlement, in the west there is the village pond and the development in the north is more recent. In 1939 the place had 199 inhabitants.
In the Middle Ages, Zschöpperitz belonged to the Gau Plisni until 1243 , then to the Margraviate of Meißen until 1485. With the partition of Leipzig , the area belonging to the Wettin office of Altenburg became part of the Ernestine Electorate of Saxony , until the electorate passed to the Albertines in 1547 due to the lost Schmalkaldic War . The Altenburger Land remained Albertine until 1554, after that it became the Duchy of Saxony , which in the course of the partition of Erfurt in 1572 largely became part of the Duchy of Saxony-Weimar . The Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg existed from 1603 to 1672 , after which three quarters of it belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg , until the second Altenburg dynasty was founded in 1826. Since then, Zschöpperitz has belonged to the eastern district of the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg and the Tegkwitz district , the Altenburg district court and, from April 1, 1900, the Altenburg district office . From 1918 onwards, Zschöpperitz belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. On October 1, 1922, the Altenburg district was founded, which was divided into the Altenburg and Schmölln districts in the Leipzig district during the second district reform in the GDR on July 25, 1952 , with Zschöpperitz joining the latter. They united after reunification in the course of the Thuringian district reform on July 1, 1994. Zschöpperitz was incorporated into the community of Göllnitz on August 28, 1973, which in 1994 joined the administrative community of Altenburger Land .
