Systematics

The genus Scirpoides was established in 1754 by Jean François Séguier in Plantae Veronenses , Volume 3, p. 73. A synonym for Scirpoides Ség. is Holoschoenus Link . The botanical genus name Scirpoides is derived from the name of the genus Scirpus , the Greek ending -oides means similarity. The genus Scirpoides belongs to the tribe Cypereae in the subfamily Cyperoideae within the family Cyperaceae .

The genus Scirpoides contains three to four species that are found in Eurasia and Africa. They are closely related to each other:

  • Scirpoides burkei (CBClarke) Goetgh., Muasya & DASimpson : The home is South Africa .
  • Scirpoides dioeca (Kunth) Browning : The home is South Africa. The species is also called Afroscirpoides dioeca (Kunth) García-Madr. & Muasya in the genus Afroscirpoides García-Madr. & Muasya posed with just this type.
  • Ball ledges ( Scirpoides holoschoenus (L.) Soják ): It is widespread in Eurasia and Africa with two or three subspecies.
  • Scirpoides thunbergii (Schrad.) Soják (Also called subspecies Scirpoides holoschoenus subsp. Thunbergii (Schrad.) Soják viewed.)
  • Scirpoides varia Browning : It occurs in southern Africa.
