Glennie began his career in 2007 with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the Western Hockey League . He ran in 67 games for the Wheat Kings in the 2007/08 season and scored 59 points scorer . In the following season he managed to increase his batting average and Glennie collected a total of 88 points in 67 games. The Canadian was selected by the Dallas Stars from the National Hockey League in the first round in eighth position in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft . He also spent the 2009/10 season with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL and again improved his point yield.
In July 2010, Glennie signed a three-year contract with the Dallas Stars, but began the following season again with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL. After they left the playoffs in April 2011, the striker was used by the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League , for which he played until the end of the 2014/15 season. During this period he only played one role for Dallas in the NHL, but also celebrated the greatest success of his career by winning the Calder Cup for the Texas Stars in 2014.
The Dallas Stars did not extend the striker's contract in the summer of 2015, which meant that he was looking for a club as a free agent . Ultimately, Glennie decided to sit out the entire 2015/16 season and heal his injuries. He only returned to the ice in the 2016/17 season and competed in the season after a successful trial with the Manitoba Moose from the AHL. After the season he ended his active career at the age of 26.
International
In the junior area, Glennie came to the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2008 and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2008 for inserts for his home country. He won the bronze medal at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge, to which he contributed ten scorer points in six tournaments. At the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament a few months later, Glennie even won the gold medal.
