Community building work

His first work, The Road Less Traveled , published in 1978, was followed by other books such as People of the Lie: The Hope For Healing Human Evil , Meditations From the Road and Further Along the Road Less Traveled . Another important publication is the book The different drum , published in 2007 in German.

In the book The Different Drum: Community Making and Peace (1988; German: Gemeinschaftbildung: Der Weg zu Authentischer Gemeinschaft , 2007) he describes four phases of development that every group has to go through if they want to be able to work: pseudo-community , chaos , emptiness and authenticity . With this book, Peck laid the theoretical basis for his community-building work. With the establishment of the "FCE - Foundation for Community Encouragement" in 1984 he tried to put his findings into practice. The main focus was on implementation in companies. The approach enjoyed great popularity during this time. Today it is no longer used in companies, but is of interest to partnerships. The "WIR process" is the "current community-building method" in the ecological community of Tempelhof . Many passages in the Christian-based work inspired by other religions are considered esoteric . In addition to personal experience, stories and examples often come from these areas. However, Peck expressly addresses atheists as well .
