Sebastian Wännström (born March 3, 1991 in Gävle ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with HV71 in the Svenska Hockeyligan since May 2017 .
Career
Sebastian Wännström began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Brynäs IF , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien in the 2009/10 season . He remained pointless in a total of 19 games and received two penalty minutes. The winger was then selected in June 2010 in the KHL Junior Draft by Salawat Yulayev Ufa in the third round as a total of 72nd player and then in the NHL Entry Draft in the second round as a total of 44th player from the St. Louis Blues .
However, Wännström stayed two more seasons with Brynäs and won the Swedish championship with the team in the 2011/12 season before moving to North America in the summer of 2012 in the organization of the Blues. There he came in the 2012/13 season, however, exclusively for the farm teams Peoria Rivermen and Peoria Rivermen in the American Hockey League and East Coast Hockey League for use. In January 2013 the Swede was loaned back to his home club. Also in the following two seasons Wännström was only in the AHL for the new farm team of the Blues, the Chicago Wolves , on the ice and could not recommend himself for a place in the NHL squad.
Without having played a game in the top division of North America, he returned to Sweden in the summer of 2015 and joined the Rögle BK from the Svenska Hockeyligan .
