The Seebach is a left tributary of the Rhine in Rheinhessen . It rises as an artesian spring in Westhofen , flows through Osthofen and flows into the Upper Rhine after about ten kilometers north of Rheindürkheim , a northern district of Worms . Across the Altbach , which flows into it after 700 meters , and which is partly also marked as Seebach on maps , and its tributaries are up to 18.1 km long. The named Altbach arises from a confluence in Gundersheim and flows through a former reservoir. In the Middle Ages he drove numerous mills , the first of which in Westhofen still has a mill wheel.

Along with the Grailsbach , which adjoins it to the south, and the lower reaches of the Pfrimm and Eisbach to the south, the Seebach is one of the four main streams of the Wonnegau hill country in the Wonnegau , which lies in front of the significantly higher Alzeyer hill country to the east and represents the flattest part of the Rheinhessen table and hill country , however, the Rhine plain dominates noticeably.

Water stationing

The Seebach GKZ 23936 was awarded by the responsible authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate for the longest stretch of water in the Seebach river system, without taking historical names and discharge quantities into account. These 18.1 km consist of:

  • 3.11 km Flomborn ( stream coming from Flomborn , which is not indicated by name on maps) to its confluence with the Böllenbach coming from Eppelsheim
  • 0.69 km Böllenbach, until it merges with the Waschbach coming from Ober-Flörsheim to form the Altbach
  • 5.03 km Altbach until the named Seebach-Quellbach flows into it
  • 9.27 km Seebach

River system and tributaries

In terms of its catchment area , the Böllenbach would be the main source of the Seebach system. The following streams flow to it up to the confluence with the Rhine (some of the values are cumulative as indicated):
